Zoe (1/2/10) raising the roof to cobedding
Zoe (1/2/10) eating with the occupational therapist...she looks mad at us...like hey, why are you letting the stranger feed me while you watch?
Zoe & Ian are making progress, although slowly. They currently weigh 4 lb 10 oz (Ian) & 4lb 6 oz (Zoe)...they both gained a full pound by Christmas day. It really changes how they look (considering it is like a 25% body weight gain for each)...they really are getting so big to us. We can definately tell them apart (even with diaper area covered)...very easy in real life...the pictures are more vague. Ian is our "white boy" with a lighter complexion and Zoe definately has darker features.
They are bottle feeding on a schedule and they get advanced based on their performance...right now Ian is eating a bottle every other feeding and Zoe just gets three bottles/day. Ian has tried to breastfeed/latch on 2 times (while getting tube fed) and he screamed at first (I guess it must be scary !) but then seemed to like it okay enough to relax and fall asleep. They have no major problems just found out some stuff with Ian these past few weeks...he has an inguinal hernia (probably will require surgery when he is older), he has a murmur (patent foramen ovale...told it is not a big deal...apparently 25% of people have it and usually don't know it, but how do they know that ?!?) and he keeps getting serious eye bogers (the latest theory is that he was sensitive to the eye drops they give a birth and has had 2 more kinds and he is having some sort of continuous reaction to them all). He had a ultrasound of his kidneys (because he had a uti so early on) and everything looked normal. They both also had an ultrasound of their heads, because sometimes they can have bleeding due to their prematurity and we were told that was normal as well.
Looks like they may be making it home soon...just have to learn how to eat a bottle without forgetting to breathe and/or slowing their heart down. We are looking forward to night time crying keeping us awake...
